The vision for a Performing Arts Center on Florida’s Treasure Coast has been a dream in the mind of Dr. Douglas Jewett, CEO of the Treasure Coast Performing Arts Collaborative (TCPAC), for over 15 years. Since relocating to Stuart in 2001, Dr. Jewett has noticed a significant lack of suitable venues to accommodate the region’s vibrant performing arts community, which offers concerts and performances throughout the year.
Driven by a desire to create a unique and immersive experience for audiences, Dr. Jewett has conceptualized an acoustically optimized, 700-seat theater in the round. This innovative design ensures that every member of the audience has an up-close and personal view of the performers, surrounded on all sides. The layout allows attendees to witness the subtle nuances of the performers—breathing, facial expressions, and emotions—creating a powerful, intimate connection to the music. This proximity offers an unparalleled experience, distinct from other local venues.
Beyond its role as a performance space, the facility will serve as an educational hub, providing opportunities for youth and adult education in the performing arts. As a cornerstone of the community, TCPAC will not only house existing local performing arts organizations but will also foster the growth of new cultural initiatives, enriching the Treasure Coast’s artistic landscape for years to come.
